Build Dynamic Documents That Adapt in Real Time with Conditional Fields
Blueink has introduced Conditional Fields, a new feature designed to make eSignature documents more flexible and responsive. With Conditional Fields, teams can control when specific fields appear based on signer input, allowing documents to adapt in real time.
This update makes it easier to manage complex workflows within a single template while improving the overall signing experience.

The Problem
Many eSignature documents are built to handle multiple scenarios. To accommodate different use cases, they often include fields that may not apply to every signer.
When all fields are displayed by default, it can:
- Make documents harder to complete
- Increase the chance of incorrect or unnecessary inputs
- Slow down the signing process
At the same time, managing separate templates for each scenario adds complexity and increases maintenance effort.
The Update
Blueink’s latest release introduces Conditional Fields, allowing teams to create rules that determine when specific fields are shown based on the value of another field.
This means:
- Documents can adjust dynamically based on signer input
- A single template can support multiple scenarios
- Teams can reduce the need to create and manage duplicate documents
Together, these improvements help streamline workflows while keeping documents clear and relevant for each signer.
How It Works
You can now define rules within your eSignature documents that control when certain fields appear. This allows teams to build more dynamic forms without increasing complexity.
To set up Conditional Fields:
- Select a Trigger Field
Choose the field that will control the condition, such as a dropdown or text input. - Set the Condition
Define when the rule should apply based on the value entered. - Choose Fields to Show
Select which fields should appear when the condition is met. - Apply the Rule
During signing, the document automatically updates based on the signer’s input.
Multiple rules can be applied within a single document, allowing for more advanced and flexible workflows.

Good to Know
Conditional Fields are available on all Blueink plans except Standard and are designed for flexible eSignature workflows. They can be applied across a wide range of use cases, from onboarding forms to contracts with variable inputs.
This feature helps reduce unnecessary fields during signing while improving accuracy and usability for both teams and signers.
